​​Scope of Work

Phased renovation and expansion to the Lower School which included an addition to house a new lower lobby and orchestra room, addition to the gymnasium, lobby renovations and rebranding of the entire school circulation.

 

​​Design Approach

The conceptual design was to design new space that reflected Woodward Academy’s mission and values through the use of color, graphics and Architecture. The existing space was very dated and the furnishings and display were lacking coherence and organization. The lobby was transformed into a more contemporary space and a lower lobby was added to be more welcoming and express a more contemporary approach to learning. The orchestra room was added to allow for rehearsal and small performances. The new additions to both the gymnasium and orchestra are in keeping with the existing architecture but give a more welcoming face to uninviting facades. Graphics were added in the Gymnasium and the corridors to amplify the school’s values and provide organization to the display of student work.
